Understanding Lindy's Billing

The cost of each task depends on the AI model you use, the complexity of the task, and the type of actions included in your workflow. Most tasks will cost about:

$0.01 (1 cent) when running on the "Small" model
$0.10 when running on the "Large" model (recommended for most tasks)

Specific factors that can lead to higher costs include the use of Premium Actions, AI agent steps, high-volume automations, and extended conversational workflows.

What is a Task?

A task is defined as everything Lindy does after being triggered by an event or a user's message.

Tasks begin as soon as a workflow is initiated and include all subsequent steps - conditions, actions, AI agent steps, and messages.

What are Credits?

Credits are the currency at the core of Lindy’s billing. The number of credits used depends on task complexity, whether premium actions were used, and whether AI agents were used.

Every task is at minimum 1 credit. If a task includes premium actions or LLM calls, it will consume more credits. Premium action credit costs are listed in the Flow Editor add action modal. LLM credit costs are listed below.

Credit usage for some common tasks:

Make a phone call: 265 credits
Send an email: 7 credits
Send a reply on an email thread: 3 credits
Search a Knowledge Base: 3 credits
Send a message to Slack: 32 credits

Task complexity:

Processing hundreds of spreadsheet rows uses more credits than updating one row
Complex analysis requires more credits than simple updates
Extended conversational workflows can consume more credits over time vs. single automation runs

AI Agents:

Since AI agents keep running until their job is done, they will consume more credits as their task gets longer or more complex

Model Pricing

Each model balances intelligence, speed, and price. More intelligent models are slower and use more credits.

Monitoring Your Credits

Track credit usage in Lindy’s task view or use the gauge at the bottom of the sidebar.

The task view displays credit usage per task step for a specific Lindy. The Total Consumption gauge shows your total account credit usage for one billing cycle.

Task View:
- Click your Lindy in your sidebar and select “Tasks”.
- Access one of the Lindy’s tasks in the sidebar.

Hover over each step in the given task to see the credits used for that step

Total Usage:
- Look at the bottom left to see your billing credit consumption for the current billing cycle
- Hover to see when your credit balance resets for the next billing cycle

Note: Credits do not roll over between billing cycles.

What Happens When Credits Run Out?

When you run out of credits:

Lindy pauses operations
New tasks are put on hold
You'll get an email notification when credits are running low

Optimize Your Credit Consumption

Three effective ways to optimize your credit usage:

Filter High-Volume Triggers — Only allow actions to run on relevant events by setting up specific filters (e.g., limiting email triggers to specific domains like acme.com)
Use Cheaper Models — Basic models often work well for simple tasks. Evaluate if you really need the advanced capabilities of more expensive models and downgrade where possible
Test and Monitor Performance — Start with more powerful models to get the workflow right, then gradually downgrade while monitoring results to find the optimal balance between cost and effectiveness
